Common side effects of Acomplia are typically not serious and are
temporary and occur in the initial phase, but gradually disappear with
regular use.
Acomplia was found to increase blood pressure Side effects of Acomplia that
affect more than one person in 10 are nausea and upper respiratory tract
infection. Side effects that affect more than one person in 100 are upset
stomach, dizziness, diarrhea, anxity, excessive sweating, muscle
cramps, fatigue, bruising, tendonitis, memory loss, sciatica, hands and feet
sensitivity. Uncommon side effects that affect more than one person in 1000
are sleepiness, night sweats, panic symtoms, hiccups, and restlessness.
Hallucinations may occur in rare cases.
If any of the side effects lasts for a long length of time, consult with
your doctor. Pregnant women or women who are breastfeeding should avoid
taking Acomplia.
You should not take Acomplia if you have liver or renal function problems,
if you are epileptic or less than eighteen years of age. One of the
ingredients of Acomplia is lactose, so if you are intolerant to some sugars
you should consult with your doctor.
The side effects of Acomplia are increased if taken in conjunction with
antifungal medicine, medicine for the treatment of HIV infections,
telithronmycin and clarithronmycin (antibiotics), and nefazodone
(anti-depressant). You should inform your doctor if you take any of the
previous medications before taking Acomplia. You should also inform your
doctor if you take nonprescription medication such as St. John’s Wort, other
weight loss medications, medicines to improve blood lipids, diabetic
medications, and medicines to treat epilepsy.
